ProWine arrives in São Paulo in October with increased safety and care

One of the biggest events around the world of wine, ProWine arrives in São Paulo from October 20th to 22nd 2020, with a strict Health and Safety Protocol to ensure the protection of exhibitors, visitors, partners, and team members. “The COVID-19 pandemic triggered changes in people’s behavior and expectations regarding various services, including the organization of trade fairs. We have a great responsibility with all the people that will attend the event and we will take all measures necessary to guarantee the best experience for our stakeholders in the safest and healthiest way possible”, said Rico Azeredo, ProWine São Paulo Director.

The trade fair organizers, Emme Brasil and Messe Düsseldorf developed a Health and Safety Protocol especially for the event, based on the best practices recommended by UFI (The Global Association of the Exhibition Industry) and WHO (World Health Organization) as to mitigate the risk of contamination by COVID-19. The protocol fully covers aspects like health precautions, hygiene measures, distance rules, and spatial management, as well as technical and organizational measures recommended by the federal, state, and municipal governments for holding congresses and trade fairs.

In this new concept, the entire layout of ProWine were redesigned to increase distancing. The aisles will be enlarged  from 3m (main) and 2m (secondary) to 5m and 4m, respectively. In order to assure a linear distance of 1.5 meter, the occupancy of the venue will respect the ratio of 1 person for each 3m². Entrances and exits will be properly controlled to guarantee the occupancy rate of the pavilions according to the rule above.

New measures for the construction of stands were defined to ensure the safety of exhibitors and visitors, taking into account the best practices recommended by professional associations and official health agencies. Among them are the use of QR Code to download promotional materials from exhibitors; optimization of the number of staff at the stands; sanitizers dispensers visible on all booths; restriction in the distribution of gifts and pamphlets during the event.

To avoid agglomerations, registrations must be made online (exhibitors, visitors, press, and service providers). Those who arrive at the event without having completed the online registration must prioritize the registration through their cell phones as to reduce the queues.

All people who attend the event (visitors, service providers, exhibitors, and staff) will go through a series of controls, before entering the pavilion, which will guarantee safety inside the trade fair and thus minimize the risk of contamination.

With increased control at the entrance, queues can be generated, so a separate entry will be created for exhibitors and suppliers. The qeueing area will have distancing marks on the floor. All participants will have their temperature checked at the entrance by a high performance infra-red camera. Those whose temperature are equal or higher than 37.8°C will not be allowed to enter the event and will be led to a special area, where they will be properly checked by a physician.

For conferences, workshops, and similar events, the seats will be arranged with 1.5m spacing between chairs and 2m between rows. Standing areas will not be allowed and the number of participants will be limited according to the available space and respecting the distance rule (1 person for each 3m²). Entrances and exits will be separated from each other as to optimize the visitors flow.

One of the main point of concern is the cleaning of glasses and spittoons. Glasses will be cleaned using a high quality industrial washing maching which uses disinfectant products to guarantee the perfect cleaning. Spittoons will be of individual use and disposable.
