Bordeaux wines are known for their exceptional quality. This specific region of Franc, has one of the biggest wine production volume in the world. That said, wine lovers always eagerly await the launch of new vintages and from that month onwards we will have the labels for the 2019 vintage available.
Given the current quarantine situation, the 2019 harvest is being launched on the market with special prices and unanimous opinion from critics on the high level quality. “A type of sale that happens while the wines are still in the barrels, approximately 2 years before bottling” – that was the common expression that critics James Suckling, Lisa Perrotti-Brown and Neal Martin used to define the 2019 vintage in Bordeaux , which was marked by elegance and balance, from the simplest to the iconic labels that elevated the region to the highest level of world importance.
However, this vintage not only stands out exceptionally for its bottled qualities, but also because for the first time in many years, the great chateaux will offer their wines with prices up to 35% below the last En Primeur sales editions. “If this type of sale (when wines are still aging in barrels) was already a great opportunity for oenophiles – especially those passionate about Bordeaux – to turn their wine cellars into an investment due to the constant appreciation of these products over time, the combination of low prices and outstanding quality, has made the opportunity even better”, comments Juliana La Pastina, from World Wine – an importer that has become a reference in Bordeaux in the Brazilian market.
According to data from LivEx, a platform specialized in price monitoring for this category of wines worldwide, 2019 has an average critics rating of 94.9 compared to an average rating of 94.7 for 2009, considered one of the best vintages of the century. When the comparison goes to the price field, the difference is quite impressive: the wines of 2019 are 35.6% and 35.3% cheaper than the 2010 and 2009 vintages, respectively.
