The change in some consumption habits in the face of confinement drew a lot of attention from the food and beverage market. Online shopping in general, specially those through mobile applications, has grown significantly: in Brazil, more than 1/3 of consumers have declared to be buying online more frequently and that, after quarantine, they will reduce visits to physical stores and continue shopping over the internet, according to a McKinsey survey from April 2020.
In relation to the wine segment, this growth has been highlighted since last year. According to a Wine Intelligence survey from 2019, 28% of regular wine consumers from Brazil, have declared to make online punchases frequently – making Brazil the third largest market it the world in terms of wine online sales, behind pnly from China and UK. This behavior benefited wine importers with virtual stores that provide good shopping experiences. World Wine, for example, which has one of the largest portfolios and one of the fastest delivery services in the market, identified an increase in online sales revenue of 333% from March to June 2020, compared to the same period last year.
Always keeping an eye on these trends and changes in conduct, the company takes advantage of this moment to launch its own application. The customer just needs to download the World Wine app at his preferred store and browse normally, with access to the entire portfolio available on the importer’s website, with the same clarity and navigability as the importer’s online shop, currently allocated on one of the most modern platforms on the market . New registrations still have the benefit of 10% off on the first purchase. The app arrives to add to the various adaptations that World Wine applied in a few months in its operations to serve consumers in the closest and most comfortable way possible, always following its premise that a good wine has the power to transform moments into unique experiences.
It is a big step for the market, as the number of wines entering Brazil for direct sale to consumers is increasing. “A new need arose as a reflection of a new scenario, more digital than ever. For us importers specialized in quality wines, it is another niche to be working on, and we are happy with the response from our customerss, who are increasingly involved in our proposals for moments of consumption ”, comments Juliana La Pastina, vice president. This novelty is now available on the Apple Store and also on Google Play. World Wine is one of the importers that has already confirmed its presence at ProWine 2021 and will bring visitors a series of launches and news.
