O Ribatejo que está memorialmente ligada à produção de vinhos. Na Região Vitivinícola do Tejo (outrora Ribatejo), a arte de produzir vinho remonta a 2000 a.C., quando os Tartessos iniciaram a plantação da vinha junto às margens do rio Tejo. Reza a história que já o primeiro rei de Portugal fez referência aos vinhos da região no Foral de Santarém, datado de 1170, e que a região terá exportado 500 navios com tonéis de vinho que, em apenas um ano, terão atingido o valor de 12.000 reis. As estórias continuam pela cronologia fora, com o ano de 1765 a destacar-se pelo desaparecimento da vinha nos campos do Tejo, como consequência de uma ordem imposta na altura.
Ribatejo, which is historically linked to wine production. In the Wine Region of Tejo (formerly Ribatejo), the art of wine production dates back to 2000 B.C. when the Tartessians began planting vineyards along the banks of the Tagus River. History tells us that even the first king of Portugal made reference to the wines of the region in the Charter of Santarém, dated 1170, and that the region exported 500 ships filled with barrels of wine, which, in just one year, reached the value of 12,000 reis. The stories continue throughout history, with the year 1765 standing out due to the disappearance of vineyards in the Tejo region as a result of an order imposed at the time.
