A Fundação Eugénio de Almeida é uma instituição de direito privado e utilidade pública, sediada em Évora. Os seus Estatutos foram redigidos pelo próprio Fundador, o Engº Vasco Maria Eugénio de Almeida, aquando da sua criação, em 1963. Esta Fundação tem como missão promover o desenvolvimento integrado da região de Évora, criando oportunidades culturais, educativas e sociais para as pessoas.
A Fundação Eugénio de Almeida é herdeira de uma longa história no sector vitivinícola, com a cultura da vinha a fazer parte da tradição produtiva da Casa Agrícola Eugénio de Almeida, desde o final do Séc. XIX.
As uvas que atualmente resultam da produção obtida nos 600 hectares de vinha explorada, são vinificadas na moderna e sofisticada Adega Cartuxa – Monte Pinheiros.
A marca Cartuxa é um dos seus principais ativos e atual marca umbrella da Adega Cartuxa, do Lagar Cartuxa, Enoturismo Cartuxa e da Enoteca Cartuxa. A insígnia traduz a identidade dos vinhos Monte de Pinheiros, EA, Foral de Évora, Cartuxa, Scala Coeli e do mítico Pêra-Manca, bem como dos azeites Álamos, EA e Cartuxa.
A Adega Cartuxa – Quinta de Valbom é um ícone da história vinícola do Alentejo. Esta, foi antigo posto Jesuíta, onde já, em 1776, funcionava um importante lagar de vinho, e é, desde 2007, o centro de estágio de vinhos e sede do Enoturismo Cartuxa.
Neste edifício secular, cercado por 60 hectares de vinha em modo de produção biológica, estagiam vinhos como o emblemático Cartuxa e o mítico Pêra-Manca.
É aqui que pode visitar o Enoturismo Cartuxa, apenas a 10 minutos do centro de Évora. Convidamo-lo a fazer uma viagem no tempo, a descobrir a memória do lugar, a conhecer a evolução técnica da produção de vinho e a desafiar os sentidos com uma prova dos vinhos da Adega Cartuxa e dos azeites do Lagar Cartuxa.
O novo projeto da Fundação Eugénio de Almeida, no âmbito do vinho, é a Tapada do Chaves, que adquiriu em 2017, com o propósito de relançar os vinhos produzidos na propriedade e retomar a fama que os mesmos outrora alcançaram. Estes, sempre foram dos mais prestigiados em Portugal, reconhecidos pela genuinidade e qualidade, conquistaram uma aura mítica, estando entre os preferidos por uma elite de consumidores e enófilos de Portugal ao Brasil.
Localizada em Frangoneiro, nos arredores de Portalegre, em terras do Alto Alentejo, a Tapado do Chaves é uma propriedade, com 60 hectares, que dá origem a vinhos de qualidade reconhecida há mais de 100 anos. Aqui encontram-se duas das mais velhas parcelas de vinha do Alentejo, em produção, com registo nos passados anos de 1901(vinha velha tinta) e 1903 (vinha velha branca).
Os aromas muito puros e a frescura singular dos vinhos aqui produzidos, são fortemente influenciados pela orografia (Serra de São Mamede) e pela cobertura agroflorestal que lhe confere um microclima específico e decisivo para esta qualidade e tipicidade.
A história da Tapada do Chaves, remonta ao início do século XX quando, no Frangoneiro, o senhor Chaves, plantou na sua pequena propriedade (Tapada) as primeiras vinhas, iniciando uma relação de paixão e de dedicação à terra.

Fundação Eugénio de Almeida is an institution of private law and public utility, headquartered in Évora. Its Statutes were written by the Founder himself, Engineer Vasco Maria Eugénio de Almeida, when it was created in 1963. This Foundation’s mission is to promote the integrated development of the Évora region, creating cultural, educational, and social opportunities for people.
The Eugénio de Almeida Foundation is heir to a long history in the vitiviniculture sector, with vine culture being part of the productive tradition of the Eugénio de Almeida Agricultural House since the end of the 19th century.
The grapes that currently result from the production obtained from the 600 hectares of vineyard explored, are vinified in the modern and sophisticated Cartuxa Winery – Monte Pinheiros.
The Cartuxa brand is one of its main assets and the current umbrella brand of the Cartuxa Winery, Lagar Cartuxa, Enoturismo Cartuxa and Enoteca Cartuxa. The Cartuxa Wine Cellar – Quinta de Valbom is an icon of the Alentejo wine history. It was a former Jesuit outpost, where in 1776 an important wine press already operated, and since 2007 it is the wine aging center and headquarters of the Cartuxa Wine Tourism.
In this secular building, surrounded by 60 hectares of organic vines, wines such as the emblematic Cartuxa and the mythical Pêra-Manca are aged.

These, have always been among the most prestigious in Portugal, recognized for their genuineness and quality, have conquered a mythical aura, being among the preferred by an elite of consumers and oenophiles from Portugal to Brazil.
Located in Frangoneiro, on the outskirts of Portalegre, in the lands of the Alto Alentejo, Tapado do Chaves is a 60-hectare property which has been producing wines of recognized quality for over 100 years. Here we find two of the oldest vineyards of the Alentejo in production, registered in the past years 1901 (old red vineyard) and 1903 (old white vineyard).
The very pure aromas and the singular freshness of the wines produced here are strongly influenced by the orography (Serra de São Mamede) and by the agroforestry cover which gives it a specific and decisive microclimate for this quality and typicity.
The history of Tapada do Chaves dates back to the beginning of the 20th century when Mr. Chaves planted the first vineyards on his small property (Tapada) in Frangoneiro, starting a relationship of passion and dedication to the land.
