Quando, em meados dos anos 80, Pascual Toso partiu para a Argentina de sua cidade natal, Canale d’Alba, no Piemonte, Itália, ele não poderia imaginar que se tornaria o fundador de uma vinícola, que é hoje uma das mais antigas e prestigiadas da Argentina. Ao chegar na Argentina, ele se estabeleceu em Mendoza. Como tinha estado intimamente envolvido no desenvolvimento dos vinhos com sua família no Piemonte, ele viu imediatamente o futuro promissor da região para a vinificação e decidiu usar sua experiência. Assim, em 1890, Pascual Toso estabeleceu sua primeira vinícola em San José, Guaymallén. No início do século XX, ele decidiu expandir seus negócios e adquiriu vinhedos em Maipú. Em sua propriedade em Barrancas, ele construiu outra vinícola, “Las Barrancas” (pequeno canyon) dedicada à produção e cultivo das melhores uvas.
When, in the mid-1880s, Pascual Toso set out for Argentina from his hometown of Canale d’Alba, in Piedmont, Italy, he could not have imagined that he would become the founder of a winery, which is now one of the oldest and most prestigious in Argentina. Upon arriving in Argentina, he settled in Mendoza. As he had been closely involved in the development of wines with his family in Piedmont, he immediately saw the promising future of the region for winemaking and decided to use his experience. Thus, in 1890, Pascual Toso established his first winery in San José, Guaymallén. At the beginning of the twentieth century, he decided to expand his business and acquired vineyards in Maipú. On his estate in Barrancas, he built another winery, “Las Barrancas” (small canyon) dedicated to the production and cultivation of the best grapes.
