Em 1877 D. Antónia Ferreira, já proprietária do maior património agrícola do Douro, comprou em hasta pública 300 hectares de terra virgem à câmara de V. N. de Foz Côa, sendo esta a única propriedade que plantou de raiz. Desde então a quinta manteve-se sempre na posse dos seus descendentes. Em 1998, Francisco Javier de Olazabal decidiu dedicar-se juntamente com seu filho enólogo Francisco de Olazabal y Nicolau de Almeida, à produção, envelhecimento e comercialização dos vinhos da quinta, através da criação da sociedade F. Olazabal & Filhos, Lda.
In 1877, D. Antónia Ferreira, already the owner of the largest agricultural heritage in the Douro, purchased 300 hectares of virgin land at public auction from the V. N. de Foz Côa municipality, this being the only property she planted from scratch. Since then, the estate has always remained in the possession of her descendants. In 1998, Francisco Javier de Olazabal decided to dedicate himself, along with his winemaker son Francisco de Olazabal y Nicolau de Almeida, to the production, aging, and commercialization of the estate’s wines, through the creation of the company F. Olazabal & Filhos, Lda.
